Description Christopher Beland 2013-07-01 22:56:03 UTC
Editing with Visual Editor on the English Wikipedia on firefox-22.0-1.fc18.x86_64 on Fedora Linux here.

The source editor provides a default edit summary like "/* History */" when using the [edit] link next to section headers. Visual Editor doesn't do this. I'm immediately missing this because I usually assume that's there, and it's a bit annoying to have to go find that to copy-and-paste it. Many people don't provide an edit summary if they are editing a section, and having it there automatically I find very helpful when tracing problems through article history. (It makes it obvious who has editing a given section, and when sections changed title.)

Up-merging this to a newer duplicate (sorry, should have triaged earlier).
