Version 4.1.18 is just over a year old; there have been thirteen releases since then. Could you try with a more recent version of VirtualBox?
It's running out-of-the-box VirtualBox Debian stable (Wheezy), which means a couple things. First, Debian may have back-ported fixes, which is common. The official versions is "4.1.18-dfsg-2+deb7u1", which I think indicates this. Second, it's worth supporting Debian stable if possible, so we should consider if this is an upstream bug. I do note that I earlier had to upgrade Vagrant (I'm running it from a dpkg). Do you think it's possible that conflicts with the packaged VirtualBox?
Change 74115 had a related patch set uploaded by Ori.livneh: VBoxLinuxAdditions's install.sh takes 'force' sub-command, not '--force' option https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/74115

Thanks for testing & merging that
