In both named and unnamed parameters.

The unnamed one should be of course a bug.

Should we manage to protect named ones from being trimmed in PHP parser?

ie. generate ({{P1|1= hello <nowiki/>}}) to protect the trailing space?

This was fixed some time ago in the clean-up re-write of the transclusion dialog; sorry for the slow triage.
