Description Fabrice Florin 2013-07-19 18:40:28 UTC
We would like to set up a Multimedia mailing list to discuss multimedia software tools and community activities related to images, sounds and videos on Wikimedia projects.

We propose the following settings for this list:

Public name: Multimedia

List administrators: Fabrice Florin, Rob Lanphier

List moderators: Mark Holmquist, Brian Wolff, TheHelpfulOne

Access: Anyone can view

Membership: Anyone can subscribe

Posting: Any member can post, but not anonymous posts (to prevent spam)

Description: This mailing list is for discussing software tools that support the contribution, curation, discovery and publishing of multimedia content to Wikimedia projects. This list is hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation's new multimedia team and community members from Commons, Wikipedia and other MediaWiki projects who share an interest in adding images, sounds and videos to our free knowledge base. Learn more about current activities on this mutimedia project hub: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Multimedia

This would essentially work the same way as the Editor engagement list (EE).

TheHelpfulOne has kindly offered to help set up this list, as he did the EE list.

At present a Wikivideo-l list exists which is currently mostly dormant so it makes sense to choose 'Multimedia' as a new name for a list that will discuss both video and other forms of media. We've decided to move the subscribers of Wikivideo-l across to the new list in about a week and then shutdown the Wikivideo-l list.

Hence, list created: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/multimedia and list admin password sent to Fabrice and Rob.
