Description Derk-Jan Hartman 2013-07-29 09:37:07 UTC
We currently have: "Containing..." in the search drop down. I think it would be a good idea to be able to add additional block(s) there.

Primary function that I have in mind would be to add a: "Search Wikipedia Help" Apparently people have a lot of trouble actually "searching" our help pages. They don't easily arrive at the "advanced" tab of the search page, they miss the "Help" link in the toolbar etc..

I think it is crucially to provide proper search ability of our Help and guidelines pages and this might help.

Is my "help containing.png" the kind of thing you are thinking of?

Another option would be to include the Help namespace in the default prefix search so a search for "editing" will include "Help:Editing."

The second one is probably more easy to implement but would shove help articles into the user's face a bit more aggressively.

I dunno if the search box is where people go for help, but it could certainly help them find it.
