en.wp user Wouterstomp suggests that the media selector should also suggest images that are used on other language versions of the article, not just based on the page title.

This could be very useful, but would need us to move more of the media item usage data out of local wikis and into a central repository (probably Wikidata), which has been discussed a few times but I don't know how soon it might get done, sorry.
