BTW, I can't grep "icinga" in any of the instances listed on the wikitech main page, and the operations/puppet repo seems to configure only neon.wikimedia.org as icinga::monitor.  It would be nice if it could be documented where and how icinga.wmflabs.org is running.

it's on instance nagios-main, i found that by connecting to it (public IP).  project is "nagios" as well.

i just started the service and it's back now

root@nagios-main:~# /etc/init.d/nagios3 start
 * Starting icinga monitoring daemon icinga                                                                                                                              * named pipe exists - removing
