https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Searching#Special_searches It would be awesome if Special:LinkSearch, which searches through all external links, could also support ISBN, PMID, and RFC links, which are referred to as "magic links". I see this as being as simple as replicating the external link search structure in a second, parallel Special:MagicSearch page, possibly with subpages, which doesn't seem too terribly difficult. Doing it "right" will probably mean building some nice convenience functions and making the special pages a lot shorter. Let me know if I can help at all :) (also, maybe this will get fixed in CirrusSearch? I don't know)

It looks like Special:LinkSearch doesn't use the SearchEngine infrastructure so it isn't something that CirrusSearch currently has in it's sights. It'd be convenient if Special:LinkSearch supported the magic links directly but you can get at the links like this: ISBN - Special:BookSources PMID - Special:LinkSearch/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/<the id> RFC - Special:LinkSearch/tools.ietf.org/html/rfc<the id> I know that isn't really a solution to the bug. It might be helpful for someone wanting to do such a search in the future though.
Special:BookSources is useless for what Bug 49537 was opened for. BookSources just provides links to third party resources. But gives zero information about where the isbn is actually being used
(In reply to comment #3) > Special:BookSources is useless for what Bug 49537 was opened for. BookSources > just provides links to third party resources. But gives zero information > about > where the isbn is actually being used Sorry, you are right. I don't have a solution for ISBNs then.
This isn't a MWSearch bug, moving to core.
