Created attachment 13213 [details] Current Khmer font types - working properly on Windows but having rending issue on Mac & iOS Current font types are not rendering properly across all OS, esp. that of iOS. We have tested among all the Khmer Webfonts from Google (http://www.google.com/fonts/ then change the script to KHMER) Among all, only 5 types are working properly in all systems - Windows, Mac OS & iOS: * Battambang * Khmer * Suwannaphum * Hanuman * Nokora We have tested one font type, that we strongly recommend for its simple, sleek design and easy legibility, namely 'Hanumam' by temporarily embedding it in our Khmer Wiki Common.CSS and it was working perfectly fine. So now, we would like to request for the delist of the old fonts and replace them with the 5 fully-working webfonts for your action. Let me know if you have any question. Thank you. Regards, Vantharith

Thanks for your analysis! (In reply to comment #0) > We have tested among all the Khmer Webfonts from Google > We have tested one font type Could you clarify who "we" is? I assume the Khmer community? Is there any kind of public discussion about the WebFonts situation that you could link to?
Thanks for reporting bug! Question: If 'Hanuman' is working fine, why we need to add 5 fonts?

I am one of the admin in Khmer Wiki and during the recent Wikimania in Hong Kong, I met and discussed on Khmer font issues with Amir & Alotita from Wikimedia Language/Localization Team. For the discussion, after I returned back from the Wikimania, I gathered few (active) community members to work and test with the fonts. However, we don't make any public discussion on the Wiki site due to very low traffic, but on our Facebook page (link here - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=525400094196207&set=a.124069224329298.21179.124062910996596&type=1&theater). Thank you!
(In reply to comment #4) > Thanks for reporting bug! > > Question: If 'Hanuman' is working fine, why we need to add 5 fonts? Yes, Hanuman font type is working fine; the same to other 4 font types I also mentioned before. Currently, the universal language selector feature included a set of around 9 KhmerOS fonts. So I bellieve it's wise to give the readers choice on the webfont type they are comfortable with when reading. Thank you.
Hi Vantharith, You have recommended that the following fonts be included in the repository: * Battambang * Khmer * Suwannaphum * Hanuman * Nokora Of these 'Battambang' is already in the repository[1]. The second font 'Khmer' is also probably in there with the name 'KhmerOS'. To make sure that we clearly understand the requirements from the Khmer Community, I would like to confirm with you the following: 1. Are thees 5 fonts the only ones that the community wants to be made available? 2. Is 'Khmer' the same font that exists in the repository as 'KhmerOS'? 3. Should the remaining 7 fonts i.e. Bokor, Fasthand, Freehand, Muol, Muollight, Muolpali, Siemreap be removed? Thanks. Hi Runa, Thanks for your message. Ok, below are my responses: 1. Yes, these 5 fonts are good and more than enough for readers to choose from. 2. For the font 'Khmer' here's the link - http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Khmer 3. Yes, you can delete the old fonts - cos they don't render properly in both Windows and Mac OS. Thank you very much. Thanks Vantharith for the clarification. There is now already a patch to add Hanuman fonts. I will probably wait for Kartik (assigned for this bug) to comment on how he will be handling the removals. Kartik, The URL listed in the font.ini file for KhmerOS font (http://www.khmeros.info/drupal612/en/fonts) is throwing a 404 error. So I could not confirm if its the same font as the one Vantharith has linked. (http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Khmer). What do you suggest? Thanks.
Khmer at Google fonts and KhmerOS looks different to me. Atleast, both have different licenses. Can anyone from community confirm this?
