Works for me on Android 4.2.2...

This may simply be due to limited font availability on an older version of Android.

That would be fixed if we added webfonts support to the app, although it has some challenges, too.

Could you just post an screenshot? 

I've tested it on Nexus 7 android 4.3 and the issue still persists, there is a character missing, however shows a blank space instead of a white square.

On Firefox for Android the characters are shown correctly, which I presume is because uses its own engine while wikipedia relies on the framework provided by android.
