Description Kelson [Emmanuel Engelhart] 2013-09-12 11:38:52 UTC
This is not possible to use Wikimetrics without leaking private information to Google, Twitter, NSA and co. This is against Wikimedia privacy protection usages and probably rules. A standalone login system and/or SUL connector should be available in place of the current solution.

Hi Emmanuel,

We will be adding OAuth Mediawiki support as soon as that's stable.
What private information is leaking? I think your reference to NSA is not substantive.

Best,
Diederik
Comment 3 Kelson [Emmanuel Engelhart] 2013-09-12 19:09:54 UTC
This is great if you add OAuth. Thank you.

@Andre @Diederik

I think, I misunderstand: Do you seriously want me to make a synthesis about Google/NSA practices regarding Google's user's private data?
Comment 6 Andre Klapper 2013-09-17 12:43:45 UTC
I don't want a synthesis, but "[citation needed]" comes to my mind. :)
If Wikimedia uses Google services or Wikimetrics "leaks information", please provide a link to that code or page and elaborate.
So far this ticket is way too vague to act or really discuss, unfortunately.
