The list of categories returned by action=parse does not have any xml attributes marking those categories as hidden (when they are hidden). http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=parse&page=Voyager_1 Presumably this information is available at this point since asking for categorieshtml returns them sorted by hidden/non hidden. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=parse&page=Voyager_1&prop=categorieshtml I know this information is available in action=query, but it is preferable to have this information returned by action=parse along with the page so only a single query needs to be made.
