When you add a reference, it is automatically selected (blue), instead of having the cursor positioned directly after it (or better still, with a space after the ref and the cursor after that). The effec is that if you enter a ref and then start typing (which is rather normal editing behaviour), your ref immediately gets removed (overwritten) again, which makes it rather pointless. I think that it is much more often the intention to continue typing after adding a ref, than to have it highlighted, so please change the default behaviour.
