Description Tpt 2013-10-09 07:08:47 UTC
The discussion about how phase 1 should be done for Wikisource is, I believe, pretty consensual (see: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Wikisource ) It would be nice to add support of Wikisources to Wikidata. This includes all the languages Wikisource and oldWikisource that should be outputted in the UI in the same box as the other Wikisources, with the language code "mul" and the alias "old".
Comment 1 Lydia Pintscher 2013-10-09 07:49:48 UTC
Wikisource is currently planned to be the next sister project to be integrated in Wikidata. However I want this to still wait a bit to give the Wikidata community time to adjust to Commons. I have the feeling that adding another one right now would be harmful. In a few weeks I think we are good to go.
Comment 2 Tpt 2013-10-09 14:21:54 UTC
Is it possible to have it just before the 24th November? It will be the Wikisource tenth anniversary.
Comment 3 Lydia Pintscher 2013-10-10 10:05:12 UTC
I wish I could say yes because this would of course be a nice opportunity but I fear this is too soon still. Sorry.

Can we maybe do some preparation announcement at that point? Like "Wikidata will come on day bla (very soon). Let's start and prepare!" or something like that? We could try to fix a date for that deployment then. I'll have to check with the team when we can do that. Earliest I am comfortable with is middle of December but I need to make sure we have enough people around to actually handle the deployment and all. I will ask internally and come back to you.

If you have other ideas what we could do for the anniversary let me know.

Ok we have a date \o/ If everything goes according to plan we're going live with phase 1 on Wikisource on January 13th.

Is there anyone who can help with the communication with the Wikisource community about this?
Comment 5 Tpt 2013-10-25 16:44:33 UTC
Very good news! Thanks a lot! The best place for communication is the wikisource-I mailing list and the Scriptoriums (Wikisource project chats) of each language. Do you want I send a message to the mailing list or do you prefer to do it yourself?

I'll be happy to write something in the French Scriptorium.

Scriptoriums? I love it! :)
If you could send a message that'd be fantastic. If you need any help with it please let me know. Feel free to borrow from the messages I sent to the Wikivoyage travel pubs if you want.
