Description Magnus Manske 2013-10-10 10:54:17 UTC
SQL queries run "forever". Tested for Commons:

MariaDB [commonswiki_p]> SELECT * from categorylinks limit 5;

This just sits there and does nothing, forever.
Comment 1 Marc A. Pelletier 2013-10-10 11:45:54 UTC
There is a ridiculously long query going on that table that is delaying a DDL query that is locking the table.

*sigh* I was hoping we wouldn't have to introduce a query killer. :-(
Comment 2 Magnus Manske 2013-10-10 11:46:52 UTC
Back to the roots indeed :-(
Comment 3 Marc A. Pelletier 2013-10-10 11:54:40 UTC
The query has been killed; I expect everything else will have just unclogged at once.
Comment 4 Marc A. Pelletier 2013-10-10 12:03:41 UTC
I think I'll want to deploy an alert for exagerately long queries before I implement a query killer; so we get a better idea of how often that happens and who the culprits are.
