Description Huji 2013-10-14 14:57:46 UTC
I have noticed that in the 1.21.2 release package, dot files such as .gitreview and .jshintignore are included in the downloadable. These hidden files are only useful for developers, and should be removed from the end-user release packages.

Assigning to hexmode as he has packaged MediaWiki tarballs.
Comment 2 Mark A. Hershberger 2013-10-16 15:48:40 UTC
The package scripts should take care of this now. I'll close this, but please re-open if the next MW has these dotfiles in it.

Mark, bug 66985 is also about the same issue. I have noticed in the latest MW release certain dot files are still included (e.g. .travis.yml) and I assume it is because certain dot files should not be removed. If that is correct, please provide some insight in bug 66985 as to which dot files must be removed from release files.

The symptoms are the same. The ExtensionDistributor and tarball distribution are handled differently, though.
