Created attachment 13651 [details] MediaViewer-LicenseInfo-CC-188-Categories-WhiteList-10-31-2013.txt We should aim to display a Creative Commons license label whenever a file is using that CC license. To that end, here is a list of 188 popular Creative Commons licenses we would like to identify by name in Media Viewer. These are the main CC categories on Wikimedia Commons.
Do we care about which national version of the license is used? A reuser tipically wouldn't, since they are legally interchangeable anyway. If we ignore them, then basically we just need to prefix-match the CC strings, and that would give us some resistance to change as well.
Gergo, will your CMD patch fix this or will I need to screw around with the frontend code before it will work in MMV?
CMD sets the License field as specified in the attachment to this bug. MMV displays the text of that field, plus checks the first two characters for the logo - no change needed there (unless there are layout problems, as the license names can be slightly longer now - the longest possible is "cc-by-sa-2.5-scotland").
