Currently, after pressing ENTER in the #mw-scribunto-input field, the user has to wait until the request is completed (which may be a few seconds in a slow connection), but there is no visual indication that there is something being processed apart from the fact that the input becomes unresponsive. A spinner would make this more obvious.

Change is merged. It should be deployed to WMF wikis with 1.23wmf7, see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.23/Roadmap for the schedule.
