I have fixed Telugu string localisation for Group-oversight-member/te (https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki:Group-oversight-member/te&action=history), but it is not reflecting on the Telugu Wikipedia, even after waiting for several days. The translation used to be పరాకు, but after updating it should be పూర్తి తొలగింపు. It is still displayed in English as oversight, though the corresponding English message seems to be actually empty. Other stings seem to be updating.
Changes on TranslateWiki need to be requested to be synced to the cluster, as far as I know. Nemo: Feel free to correct me.
I'm afraid this report is invalid, because the page you edited is not part of any message group, so you didn't in fact translate anything. As per https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56881#c3 and https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56881#c4, I have properly located the source string and localised it. I have also verified Telugu localisations at https://git.wikimedia.org/blob/mediawiki%2Fcore.git/df8317feb098ab08400abd22e74ff6fb42eb8e78/languages%2Fmessages%2FMessagesTe.php and found that my updates for other messages are reflected in the file. I found the instances of old sting at http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki%3AMw-core-1.18-group-suppress-member%2Fte&diff=5116633&oldid=4256013 and http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki%3AMw-core-1.18-group-suppress-member%2Fte&diff=5116633&oldid=4256013 apart from the already cited sting http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki:Group-oversight-member/te&diff=prev&oldid=5103366 I also suspected that this message could be coming from http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=MediaWiki%3AGroup-suppress-member%2Fte&diff=5085633&oldid=3336997 for which the translation is also updated as gender neutral finally. I think something has gone wrong on Telugu Wikipedia with respect to this page and request the help to fix the same by bringing this to the attention of appropriate tech team members
Sure, feel free to; but hoping for this bug to solve anything is just a waste of time (removing myself from cc).
Right now, there are no oversight members on Telugu Wiki. So I agree it could be low priority, but worth investigating, as it could point to potential configuration errors which may impact at a later date.
Some findings after some digging: The oversight extension[1] has been obsolete. I think because of that it is no longer supported in TranslateWiki.net. (It seems the pages of the translated messages remain in TranslateWiki even after removing support for extensions/projects. I guess that is to retain the history of edits, etc.) Since the extension is not supported in TranslateWiki, we do not see updates in TeWiki. From TeWiki point of view, we can-- * In this case, edit the system message in TeWiki itself. * File a bug to remove Oversight extension from TeWiki, as we are not using it. * If needed, we can ask to activate RevisionDelete feature[2] in TeWiki. Thanks Veeven for your analysis and recommendations. I think I have tried editing the system message in Tewiki few days back and I found it not working. Can you check once as well and then recommend an action among the three that you proposed.
I've changed the system message[1] directly in TeWiki. It now reflects[2]. And for removing the Oversight extension from TeWiki and/or activating RevisionDelete feature, we can have separate discussions in TeWiki Community Portal whenever there is a need for these, and file bugs accordingly. I think you can now close this bug.
