Created attachment 13835 [details] Screenshot of the error Steps to reproduce: 1.Click on the edit button 2.Select a text or place your cursor in a blank space 3.Go to More>Latex/hieroglyphics option Observed Result: None of the inspectors open up .More over ,in one attempt they opened overlapping with each other and after that I could not close any of them.I had to cancel my editing and reopen the editor to get rid of them It gives the following script error in the console: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '$element' of null see the screenshot attached.
Test Environment: https://test2.wikipedia.org/ Browser: Chrome Version 26.0.1410.65 & FF 25 OS: MAC OS X 10. 8. 5 Test Page:https://test2.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Verify_56274&veaction=edit
Some more insight to the case where it opened. 1.Keep the firbug or developers tool closed 2.Click on Latex and/or hieroglyphics option 3.Open the firebug/developer tool Observed Result: Both the inspectors open overlapping with each other. However if you type something inside it and try to close it , it does not let you do that
It is my understanding that this is related to James' second answer at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:VisualEditor/Beta_Features/Formulae#Bugs_&_compatibility_issues.
In production the behavior is more annoying, as it opens the Latex inspector after a while and then it keeps opening everytime I select a text. And it does not go away by changing the focus/ crossing out the dialog.User have to cancel the edit and then re-open the editor.
should this block the next deployment?
(In reply to comment #5) > should this block the next deployment? James: ping?
This is fixed and verified too.
