Description elisardopr 2013-11-27 20:16:49 UTC
Since 9th november (or before) the tool HotCat and the enhanced editing toolbar don't work in Galician Wikipedia.
Comment 1 Andre Klapper 2013-11-28 01:02:33 UTC
Thanks for taking the time to report this!

Please describe what "don't work" means, and provide steps to reproduce on gl.wikipedia.org (I have no idea how to use HotCat and reproduce the problem, and I assume that "enhanced editing toolbar" is the stuff at the bottom, like "Formato wiki:"?)

Does "don't work" mean that clicking an item in "Formato wiki:" jumps to the top? If so, see bug 56718 for how to fix this.

As a first good step when trying to track down problems, could you please open the Error Console (or whatever it is called in your browser) and reload the page that you see the problem on? If there is a problem or an error with JavaScript it should be printed in that console.

Sorry, I'll add more info:
*I don't know if that is one problem or two, but the problems appeared at same time. This problems happens in gl.wikipedia.org when you are logged with your account.
*First problem is that the enhanced editig tool bar has dissapeared, this problem afects to all the users of Galician wiki that have enabled the tool. To reproduce the problem:
   > First, at preferences-editing match "Enable enhanced editing toolbar"
   > Then try to edit an article
   > In the editing window you should have the enhanced editing toolbar but it has dissapeared. An image of the bar is at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Add-media-wizard-button-screen-shot.png

*Second problem is that the tool HotCat is dissapeared too, this problem afects to all the users of Galician wiki that have enabled the tool. To reproduce the problem:
   > First, at preferences-Gadgets-Editing match "HotCat, easily add / remove / change a category on a page, with name suggestion"
   > Then consult an article
   > When consult an article you should view the signs (-) (+-) (+) together the categories but now it don't appear and the you can't use the tool. An image of the tool is at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HotCat_category_bar_monobook_plain.png

I have launched the web console but in Firefox but I don't understand anything.
Comment 4 elisardopr 2013-12-15 10:32:20 UTC
I do some tests, Firefox and Chrome don't show the "advanced editing tool", Internet Explorer sometimes show the tool, other times not.

The Hot Cat tool don't appear in Firefox, Internet Explores nor Chrome.

Chrome Versión 31.0.1650.63
Internet Explorer 8
Firefox 25.0

More info: I consulted some articles in en.wiki and es.wiki and the two tools worked fine with my user in that wikis. The same in ca.wiki, eu.wiki, fi.wiki...

Being logged in, I do see the advanced editing toolbar on https://gl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lingua_galega&action=edit shown in https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Add-media-wizard-button-screen-shot.png in Firefox 25.

Could you provide links to compare?

HotCat seems to be https://gl.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-HotCat.js ?

I have Firefox 25 too and I can't view the advanced toolbar in that edit and I have checked the Hot Cat preference., I don't understand why it doesn't work in my computer.

Yes, HotCat is in that url, but, I don't know why it doesn't work.
Comment 8 elisardopr 2013-12-16 00:51:43 UTC
I have found the problem, but not the solution. If I unmatch "Disambiguation detector" at preferences-Gadgets-Browsing, then the advanced edit toolbar and the HotCat work!

But I don't know how to fix the problem.
Comment 9 elisardopr 2013-12-16 01:38:44 UTC
I think that I solved the problem updating the code of https://gl.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-DetectorHomonimos.js.

I will do some tests and then I'll report it.

It's fixed, thanks for your help!
Comment 11 Andre Klapper 2013-12-16 19:00:12 UTC
Happy to hear that it works for you again. Closing as INVALID as this was not a bug in MediaWiki software or its extension, but in an on-wiki script.
