This is probably due to mapping the JavaScript object returned by the API to an array. We encountered a similar problem on the Nearby page. Only effects Firefox phones - the newest notification is at the bottom of the list. Yey API! You so great!

Notifications also show up in reverse order in mobile Safari on my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.1.1). If I click the notifications link in the top-right corner of any mobile Wikipedia page, I see a list of notifications with the newest notifications on the bottom.
Unsurprisingly, they also show up in reverse order in Firefox for Kindle Fire.
