First test done by him and some by myself look very promising. The face detection is already implemented in the opencv python-wrappers, but the 'bag of words' method and others not. This is not really a problem since we can use the C++ code examples given at several places in the web and make them into a python module by help of boost.python. Everything compiles fine.
