Description metatron 2014-01-16 07:40:07 UTC
I have registered two OAuth consumers: Wiki ViewStats Test [1.0] and Wiki ViewStats [4.0] - both with current status: proposed.

So far, so good. What I didn't find in the docs was

1. that it works fine with your own account, but gets rejected with any other
2. what to to do in the next step to get an approval

Is there a written process? A submission form for approval? Any special requirements? code review? A need to submit a good-conduct certificate?

I want to make the tool fly with OAuth, so I'm looking forward to any further instructions.

Regards
Hedonil

That's intended functionality, so that you can use the grant under your own account to continue to test and develop your application while your application to be an OAuth consumer is handled.

The exact process is still being developed. The draft of the guidelines is available here: [[meta:User:DGarry_(WMF)/OAuth_consumer_guidelines]]

Your request was approved, so that's that sorted.

There is a broader point you've made though, that we should make it clearer what the process is for people when they're applying. Thanks for pointing that out to us.
