WatchedItem.php has comments that are not professional and hence must be removed to maintain the dignity of the mediawiki community.

Not only this comment but, there are some other unwanted comments in the same file as well.

Errm, no, really. In theory you could add a "TODO" (or whatever) to the comment if you really feel such a need, but the comment itself is absolutely okay.

If a "this code is a little silly" comment already created "dignity" issues then you don't want to look into any other codebases out there on the interwebs, like http://www.vidarholen.net/contents/wordcount/
