Description Quiddity 2014-01-21 19:31:07 UTC
I was trying to unprotect [[mw:Talk:Sandbox]], but the "...&action=unprotect" link in Navpopups or at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AProtectedPages&namespace=1&type=edit&level=0&sizetype=min&size=
don't work; ie. https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Sandbox&action=unprotect

Relatedly, "...&action=info" doesn't work. Same result, it just redirects to the page itself. Eg. https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Flow&action=info

(Legoktm has unprotected the mw:Talk:Sandbox via the API.)

The WMF core features team tracks this bug on Mingle card https://wikimedia.mingle.thoughtworks.com/projects/flow/cards/732, but people from the community are welcome to contribute here and in Gerrit.

I mean, in theory, Flow pages shouldn't be protectable.

Hmm. I understand the complications, vis-a-vis the difference between 'Pages' vs 'Boards&Topics'...

I think we'll need a way to semi-protect and fully-protect either Boards or Topics (probably Boards? maybe both?),
per the current situation at Enwiki of ~70 pages being fully-protected and ~170 pages being semi-protected.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ProtectedPages&limit=20&namespace=1&type=edit&level=0&sizetype=min&size=

However, that should be a rare need, so can (I think) be postponed. I'm not sure if this bug is best 'closed' or turned into a tracker, or what.

[Note for others: The instance I describe in comment 1 was a rare problem, where the mw:Talk:Sandbox page wasn't unprotected (it had been a fully-protected redirect since 2005) when it was flow-enabled (a few weeks ago), and that didn't become a noticeable problem until bug 60218 was fixed (a few days ago).]
