I installed a fresh MediaWiki (version 1.22.1) and the current version of Echo (not the master that triggers a syntax error but the 1.22 one).

Linking to a user page does not lead to a notification for the mentioned user. There is no entry added to the echo_event table either which I assume should be done.

Notifications are only triggered when the mention followed by a signature and only in selected namespaces by default.

I'm aware of that. Despite of properly signed (standard signature) edits and different namespaces (no notification in main talk namespace or user talk namespace either) the notification does not work.
