In April Ubuntu will be releasing its next version nicknamed Trusty and having version 14.04. Having an image to boot instance with will let us: - try out our manifests with the next version - bring us package dependencies needed for HHVM - upgrade the continuous integration slaves which The last two would save us from backporting a ton of packages from Trusty to Precise. We have documentation on Wikitech to build new images: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/OpenStack#Building_new_images
The Ubuntu 14.04 images can apparently be found on http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/trusty/current/
+Alexandros +Faidon who both have an interest somehow in having 14.04 images in labs. Could be used for HHVM and puppet 3 migration testing.
Apparently Andrew Boggot (ops) did some work on this. Labs now has an image type labeled 'ubuntu-14.04-trusty (testing)'. Seems to be a good first step. We probably don't want to base any serious work on this image though.
Andrew has announced the availability of an Ubuntu Trusty in images in labs a few days ago. That solve this bug. Thank you Andrew!
