In alpha, navigate to a non-existent page. You should see the text 'This page doesn't exist. Why not be bold and create it?'. Tap on the pencil edit icon. A cursor should show up in the editable area. Tapping outside of the editable area makes the cursor go away. Knowing where to tap in order to get the cursor back is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps we should make the tappable area for this visible to users.

Arthur not sure I follow. Can you provide some screenshots (sadly VE is broken everywhere for me to test)?
Are you asking for placeholder text?
Does this differ from VisualEditor desktop experience?

Eh I must've been using an outdated version; I just tested again to take some screenshots and the editable area now appears very obvious. Closing as WFM.
