Description Quiddity 2014-02-08 01:14:33 UTC
Whilst typing a Flow post, the bottom of screen can be seen "shaking like a chihuahua out in the cold". Inconsistent. (If anyone can consistently reproduce it, please give details!)

Reported browsers seeing it include:
* Win 7, firefox 26
* Win 7, chrome 32

(reporting on behalf of Risker and Jayen466 at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Flow#First_impression )

IRC note:
<ebernhardson> i've seen it before, but it went away
<ebernhardson> basically if i typed into a textarea the borders or something would shimmer, like maybe there were being pushed up and back down 1px rapidly or something
<ebernhardson> but that was months ago

See my description done as I was typing here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Flow/Developer_test_page&workflow=051037df6650b4f1d8a8842b2b782806 - First example done on my desktop.

The description that ebernhardson gave on IRC sounds pretty much like what I have been seeing.

I have also seen it on a computer with Win 7, IE9; however, it is not present on my laptop despite it having exactly the same configuration as my desktop.

Noting that, after a period where I did not encounter this problem, it has returned with a vengeance. [Posts on Wikiproject Breakfast talk page, thread "Status request"]. After about 8-10 lines of typing, the screen started jumping, up to six lines before, and it was not possible to see the line on which one was typing. Before, after each keystroke, the screen view would return to the bottom line where one was posting; this time, it remained at least 2 lines above where I was typing. This is actually significantly worse than when initially reported. Win7 on FF29.

That issue is bug 58657 - I semi-recall seeing the original "shivering chihuahua" bug, and it was only ever a ~1pixel shiver, and I believe they're separate issues.
Possibly this bug has been resolved in the meantime, but I'll suggest leaving it open for now (at least until the front-end overhaul goes live). HTH.

This bug should no longer be relevant after new frontend rewrite. Please reopen if you are still seeing it.
