a screenshot with the problem

The option labels near the toggle buttons on the mobile preferences page can be too long in translations, and in English, too. When this happens their end is clipped behind the toggle button. (When I say "toggle button", I refer to <div class="mw-mf-checkbox-css3">.)

For example, this happens on my phone (Sony Xperia Neo) with the message mobile-frontend-expand-sections-status in Hebrew. The last option is clipped.

It should probably be wrapped.

My suggested fix would be to request shorter strings from translate wiki.

This is something that we want to avoid at all costs. It's unfair, and it just doesn't work, because nobody can guarantee that the translator will notice the request.

Can't these labels be wrapped?

Adding Maryana, she should be able to reply.

Side note: It would be good to move this component into MediaWiki UI as part of this work.
Comment 8 Jon 2014-05-22 14:03:43 UTC
Maryana is this something we can explore soon? Bug has been open for some time.
Comment 9 Florian 2014-07-03 08:54:41 UTC
Is there any news to this bug? :)
Comment 10 Jared Zimmerman (WMF) 2014-07-03 16:21:23 UTC
we could do a bandaid fix or make a major improvement to the page…

This doesn't appear to be a problem anymore now we use mw-ui-checkbox
