The amount of latency is about 4-5s on my machine. Equivalent for regular thumbs is much lesser.

Captchas are bad UX-wise, doubly so on a mobile phone (where i am on) and even worse when they are so slow.

Where was this tested? Some private wiki, some WMF wiki?
