This is related to Bug 57209. List-defined references (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:LDR#WP:LDR) are listed in the {{reflist}} template rather than in the regular text of the page. References that are defined inside the {{reflist}} are not visible when you try to re-use an existing reference. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a page that uses list-defined references with the {{reflist}} template (rather than <references></ref>). 2. Go to Insert > Reference to add a new reference. Click "Re-use existing reference". 3. Discover that the numbers ("[1]") and ref names are visible, but the contents are not. This problem does not exist if the non-template method is used. This problem also exists for refs inside blockquotes, infoboxes, and other templates.
Not possible without re-writing the Cite extension from scratch, which is sort-of planned but won't be done before 2015 at the earliest. Marking as "INVALID", but it's mostly a "can't fix".
