Description Stephen E Slevinski Jr 2014-02-28 17:05:59 UTC
Requesting assistance from a Labs Op for the transfer of an instance from pmtpa to equids.

Project: SignWriting
Instance: signwriting-ase10 (i-00000322)

There is a public IP associated with this instance.
Comment 1 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-05 02:50:02 UTC
What about signwriting-icon-server? Shall I migrate that as well? (If it's no longer needed then please delete it.)
Comment 2 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-05 02:53:05 UTC
Also, puppet is disabled on signwriting-ase10. Before I can migrate I'll need you to re-enable and update as per https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Labs_Eqiad_Migration_Howto#Preparing_to_migrate
Comment 3 Stephen E Slevinski Jr 2014-03-05 16:19:58 UTC
Please migrate signwriting-icon-server as well. Puppet should be fine on this instance.

Regarding signwriting-ase10, I will write again once I have puppet reenable.

Thanks.
Comment 4 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-10 03:35:44 UTC
Any update on this?
Comment 5 Stephen E Slevinski Jr 2014-03-10 15:28:32 UTC
I am unable to run puppet on signwriting-ase10

~$ sudo puppetd -tv
notice: Skipping run of Puppet configuration client; administratively disabled; use 'puppet Puppet configuration client --enable' to re-enable.

~$ puppet Puppet configuration client --enable
Error: Unknown Puppet subcommand 'Puppet'

Searching, I found another command 'puppet agent --enable'. This command executed silently, but didn't resolve the issue. Same error with 'sudo puppetd -tv'
Comment 6 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-10 17:21:20 UTC
Enable with puppetd --enable
Disable with puppetd --disable
Comment 7 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-13 13:05:51 UTC
Stephen, please respond or follow up here?
Comment 8 Stephen E Slevinski Jr 2014-03-13 13:12:20 UTC
I was able to re-enable puppet, but I could not get puppet to run successfully on signwriting-ase10. I believe the instance is beyond repair and I will need to recreate it from backups. After I recreate it on equids, I will delete the instance on pmtpa.

If possible, please migrate the instance signwriting-icon-server.
Comment 9 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-13 13:20:24 UTC
I'm working on signwriting-icon-server. Your notifications on wikitech will be a bit noisy while I sort out a bug in my migration code...
Comment 10 Andrew Bogott 2014-03-13 16:46:21 UTC
ok, signwriting-icon-server is moved. Do you need homedirs or /data/project storage copied over?
Comment 11 Stephen E Slevinski Jr 2014-03-13 16:53:38 UTC
No need for homedirs or storage. Thanks.
