Description Tim Waters 2014-03-26 15:20:40 UTC
Hello, could I request some assistance to migrate the maps-warper instance on the maps project from pmpta to equid please?

https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:I-000006d1.pmtpa.wmflabs

The puppet command (sudo puppetd -tv) on the instance worked with no errors, but the software running on it, Apache, Ruby app, postgres etc isn't set up to run with puppet.... Not sure if that's an issue.

The system has a proxy set up: http://maps-warper.instance-proxy.wmflabs.org/
Again, not sure what to do regarding this.

Would I need to copy the data from the shared directories as well? I believe the instructions are straightforward if I do.

many thanks in advance!

The instance is now migrated.

I don't know if you need your old shared data or not, it depends on what your instance is doing. You should have copies of your shared data in /home/glusterdata or /data/project/glusterdata. If you need more up-to-date copies then let me know.

Thanks. I am able to ssh in and see the old shared data but I'm getting an error when trying to sudo.

chippy@maps-warper:~$ sudo ls
sudo: ldap_start_tls_s(): Connect error
[sudo] password for chippy:

And then it asks for my sudo password. I think that I although I had sudo access on the instance my user has never had a password.

Could be related to #63152 ?

Note - I'm unable to log into wikitech at this time as well. I tried to reset password and got an error saying I was unable to do so. So this could be related.

Will try again in morning

Okay, we were able to sort this in IRC after reporting. It was partly compounded by a system wide ldap issue.

sudo issue was resolved.

Also managed to set up a web proxy for the instance to replace previous instance-proxy (using https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:NovaProxy)

Was able to login to wikitech as well eventually.

Was able to move shared data across, and configure and start the instance okay.

Thanks! marking as resolved, if that's okay
