Description christian 2014-04-08 17:23:32 UTC
When sending email to

  analytics-internal@wikimedia.org

(no "lists." in the domain) [1], email is accepted by the mail server, but
delivered to only some people from the analytics-internal list.

This behavior caused problems at least two times before, and now again on
2014-04-04.

People tried to clear google's addressbook cache several times, but it seems the address gets used again and again. Although people think they sent
messages to the whole list, and people get no error, their messages get
delivered only to part of the list, the messages do not get delivered
to the archive.

We should get the mail server to reject emails to

  analytics-internal@wikimedia.org

(or forward it to the list's real address).

----------------------------------

[1] Real address of the analytics-internal list is

  analytics-internal@lists.wikimedia.org

(with "lists." in the domain). This address is working as expected.

I'm going to ask tech-support to delete the wikimedia.org list (which hasn't been used in months, except to confuse the unwary)

It's request #3392 in the tech-support queue.
