Description Effeietsanders 2014-04-13 14:19:07 UTC
The mailing list chip-l has never really lifted off successfully. https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/chip-l

For a long time now, no useful mail has passed over the list. I asked as a list admin whether anyone would object cancelling the list, and there was no objection.

Please close this mailing list and "end its suffering" (or end the flow of spam for the list admins every now and then ;) ).

Alice, the other list admin, indicated to agree with this request.

Would you like to maintain the list archives, or would you like the list to be completely deleted?
Comment 2 Effeietsanders 2014-04-13 18:52:20 UTC
I'm OK with keeping the archives, who knows someone would like to access them some day. It's mostly that the spam etc gets annoying.

If keeping the archives is a significant amount of work, we can check them to be sure.

Adding Daniel in here as I don't seem to have the list admin password for this list. Daniel I'd suggest delete the list and keep the archives would probably be most effective?

Alternatively setting filters to autodiscard all mail and set a null address for the moderator/list admin email addresses?

Assigning this to Giuseppe after a short discussion in #wikimedia-operations.
Comment 5 Giuseppe Lavagetto 2014-06-16 13:11:37 UTC
List removed, archives are still available to whoever has the direct link.
