R 3.1.0 has been released for Ubuntu 12.0.4, and contains, amongst other things, support for parallel processing and higher memory limits. For the work I'm doing around mobile metrics for management, it'd be good to be able to take advantage of this, particularly when dealing with datasets of the size we get out of hadoop (as much as hadoop is oriented around turning big data into small data, comparatively small data == a lot of frickin' data when we're talking about a starting point of 'all of our requests' ;)).
