Description Rummana Yasmeen 2014-04-21 22:35:23 UTC
Right now, we have cut-copy-paste feature in VE but there is no icon for these Clipboard actions.
It would be nice to have them on the toolbar as it is a pretty good feature with no visual indication that it exists.

Triggering a cut/copy/paste from JavaScript might be hard due to security restrictions :( . Google Docs, for instance, has cut/copy/paste actions in the edit menu, but if you try to use them you get a dialog that says "these actions are unavailable via the Edit menu, but you can still use Ctrl+X / Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V".

We might be able to do this using execCommand though, but I don't know how well that works and how reliable it is. CC Ed because he's done a bunch of work on contentEditable copy/paste in the past so he might know more.

Google Docs shows that message in non-Chrome browsers. In Chrome browsers it asks you to install a plugin. Basically this is impossible due to the (fairly sensible) browser security model.

WONTFIXing, but really this is CANTFIX, sadly.
