The region you need to move the mouse over to get the inspector to popup.

Using the math editor beta feature. The region you need to position the mouse over the get the inspector icon to come up is quite small. Ideally it should be the whole size of the image.

The bug as reported (formula click areas)  is fixed now. It was probably fixed by https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/139805/
