In order to ease the way for the Wikimaps_Atlas (aka WikiAtlas) WMF IEG project, could you install the following general / mapping / GIS dependencies : sudo apt-get install git make curl unzip unrar gdal-bin imagemagick nodejs sudo apt-get install build-essential python-software-properties python g++ It will help us to get running on labs :)
(For those without context, like me: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Wikimaps_Atlas) Hi Yug, Is this to test on the "Beta Cluster", ie: http://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Main_Page More on the Beta Cluster: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Beta_cluster Or is this just to test on any WMF Labs instance? I believe setting up an instance in WMF Labs is your best first step for this. WMF Labs: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Labs For now I'm moving this to the general WMF Labs project; let me know if this is actually a request to get this deployed on the Beta Cluster (in that case, this will need to be puppetize, ie: we don't run random apt-get installs there ;) ).
Hi Greg, thanks for your help. This request is for Wikimedia Labs, it should be quite enough. No Beta Cluster required.
Hi, I am on hackaton we are now discussing this together. They don't want to integrate anything into the production cluster, so they don't really need to test this on a beta cluster. What they need is just a new wikimedia labs project so they can set up an instance with webserver and all the software they listed here. I don't really know why it's not suitable for tools project, but I guess they need some software that can't just be installed on there. So if you can create a project for them I will help them set it all up. Thanks
Yug -- so, I'm happy to create a new project for you. At that point you'll be able to create and administrate your own virtual servers. As long as you're up for that (it can be a hassle) then that's clearly the easiest solution for me :) In that case I just need to know what you'd like the project to be called (e.g. wikimaps-atlas) and what your on-wiki username is so I can make you the admin.

I assume WikiAtlas is now going to live (at least for the moment) at http://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiatlas2014/ and this bug can be closed. Welcome!
gdal is installed, node v0.8.2 available, should be good for us. Note: node v0.10.25 is now available online, so nodejs may need an update.
