Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP specific flavor of bug #64093 (but apparently also present on IE6, but I wouldn't know, as I can't be bothered to test anything on IE6).

This is also true (for me) with a IE11 on Win7

There is also a slightly related patch at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/127358 which will enable standard tooltips for the autocompletion list entries (full page title in the 'title' attribute, displayed as a tooltip on hover), which will make this bug less problematic if it's merged.

I confirmed this bug with IE6, IE8 and IE11. Fun.

The above patch fixes this bug for IE8 and IE11; it does not fix it for IE6, but who cares? I don't have other versions set up and I didn't test them.

The patch should be backported to 1.23, same as the patch from bug 64093.
