Code which abbreviates editors' names in View History, now obscures the Revert ID needed by vandalism-destroyer bot ClueBot NG.

ClueBot NG removes vandalism, and says "False Positive? Report it". When you click the Report it link you get an image of a View History page with pointers to where to find ClueBot's Revert ID, which comes after ClueBot's name. When I go to the View History to retrieve this information, ClueBot NG's name has been abbreviated, and mouseover only highlights the link and doesn't expand the hidden text. The same thing happens on the Diff page with the editor's name at the top.

Truncation of edit summaries longer than 255 bytes is not a bug in MediaWiki; it is necessary for the edit summary to fit into the rev_comment database column.

Users have asked for an increase of the allowed edit summary length many, many times; this is tracked under bug 4715.

My suggestion would be to ask the bot operator about this, as that is where a workaround could be made (e.g. allowing the reporter to paste a diff URL, or putting the revert ID at the beginning of the summary). However, according to [[User:ClueBot NG/FalsePositives]], there's already another way to get the revert ID -- from the user warning posted by the bot.

And to elaborate further, this has always happened; it's just more of a problem now that editing from IPv6 addresses is possible.
