Description Asaf Bartov 2014-06-01 15:23:42 UTC
Currently only run by SJ, and it would help if at least one other local list member has access. CCing SJ.
Comment 1 Asaf Bartov 2014-06-01 15:28:31 UTC
actually I can't find SJ's bugzilla user here...
Comment 2 Tomasz W. Kozlowski 2014-06-01 15:31:29 UTC
Please at least provide us with the e-mail address of Kevin Rutherford, and preferably CC him to this bug, too.
Comment 3 Asaf Bartov 2014-06-01 15:33:48 UTC
ha, oops. It's ktr101@hotmail.com. Now CCed.

Assigning this bug to Ariel with the hope that this can speed up the resolution of this bug — experience suggests it shouldn't take more than a minute.

I'm grabbing this for myself and am happy to help once we figure out what's actually needed.

I can add your email to the admin list easily but sadly that won't actually help you do anything. The list of admin emails is really only a 'who gets notifications and who gets listed on the home page' list. The real thing you need is the admin password. There is only 1 admin password (the master password gets us in but obviously I can't give that to you ;) ) so the options are that I can reset the password and send it to both you and SJ or SJ can add your email and give you the current password.

The strong strong preference historically is for this to be an SJ thing and he adds you and gives you the password. This is mostly because SJ 'owns' [as much as you own a community list obviously] the list at the moment as the only admin and so I'd rather not override him unless we need to or unless there has been consensus on the mailing list. SJ doesn't appear to have a bugzilla account (or at least I can't find it either) but I'm happy to bring this off bugzilla to an email thread with him to see if he'll ad you.

Ugh rats, I had this tab open from last night before you added this comment, so I just added Kevin as admin. Should I remove him?
Comment 7 Kevin Rutherford 2014-06-02 15:39:10 UTC
I have asked SJ to give me access to the list before, but he never got back to me. Additionally, I didn't know there was an option to request for this on Bugzilla until now, since I just assumed we were at his whim. James, there is no account for him, Asaf and I were searching for it after we posted it anyways.

No biggie, as I said above he can't do much (anything) other then be spammed without the password. Because of the glories of mailman this means either resetting it for everyone or getting it from SJ.

Aye, we can though we try to only do so with admin or community (in this case the list) permission/request. I'll start a thread with SJ off list and if we can't get ahold of him perhaps you want to start a thread on the mailing list seeing if people are ok with you having access? You can start that whenever (either now or after we wait a short bit for SJ), I don't think there is any real 'cut off' in how long we should wait or how many comments on the mailing list we should have it's mostly just that I want to make sure we don't do it in the shadows and that everything is transparent. Even if there are no comments on the mailing list for a while I'm ok with giving it to you (i know as that as a mailing list member, albeit no longer local, I'm happy with it :) )

As long as we talk about it, I am fine with that, as it is a rather stupid move to have me cc'd on these spam requests and not be able to do anything about it.

There is an impressive amount of spam in there, I've removed your email from now to save you from the spam if it comes in but will start a thread with SJ right now as well. Feel free to start a discussion on the mailing list at your convenience (either now or later).

By SJ's request (via email) I've added Kevin, reset the password and sent to both of them.
