Description Kronf 2014-06-02 08:18:50 UTC
We've got an old RSS feed for featured words at de.wiktionary which hasn't been working since 2010. https://de.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Wort_der_Woche/RSS I'd like to fix it using the FeaturedFeeds extension. Therefore we need an entry for wiktionary in FeaturedFeedsWMF.php. Feed name "featured" would be fine.

I'm not sure if we should reuse "featured". "featured" can be confusing, because it comes with predefined messages. MediaWiki:Ffeed-featured-title is set to "{{SITENAME}} featured articles feed" by default, and on TranslateWiki.Net the message is translated accordingly.

On the other hand I'm convinced that "wotd" (in the current patch) is not ideal, as dewiktionary's seems more like Word of the Week.

How about "featuredwords" instead, similar to "featuredtexts" for Wikisource?

Everything is fine with me, as long as it works ;)
- I'd say featured words ARE wiktionary's featured articles, so "featured" would be fine
- de.wiktionary won't ever have word of the week AND word of the day, so there would be no conflict, "wotd" would be fine
- "featuredwords" would be just as fine

I'm inclined to the original "wotd" now. It turned out that the "wotd" messages already went for translation, and it doesn't make sense to abandon those translations.
