(1) Make sure WMF get's notified (e.g. on IRC (ops) or on ICINGA dashboard).
(2) Send E-Mail to wikidata-monitoring@wikimedia.de and post to IRC (Wikidata).
(3) Adjust threshold to notify if lag is greater than 15 minutes.
(4) Execute script every 30 minutes.

clarification: critical warning for lag bigger than 15 minutes and warning on IRC for lag bigger than 2 minutes.

The lag that needs to be monitored is the median lag.
