The "Describe" step in UploadWizard lets you click on the thumbnail to get a preview of the image - this is great, but there needs to be some UI indicator for this. I vote for a cursor: pointer; thing on the element.
cursor: zoom-in makes more sense to me.
zoom-in is better, but I think I'm going with cursor: pointer for now. massive yak-shaving: cursor: zoom-in is correct but it is very difficult to make that work with appropriate fallbacks in IE, or even slightly older versions of Chrome and Firefox. The only thing that works everywhere is to use a .cur file, which means every platform looks equally bad. I'm also having some difficulties today just getting UW to work with a vm IE7 on my local mediawiki-vagrant install.
