The templates present in wiki pages should be excluded by the tool developed being developed for preparing the page for translation. The tool should place the templates in the page template, outside the <translate>...</translate> tags.
Change 140128 had a related patch set uploaded by BPositive: [PagePreparation] Templates excluded outside <translate> tags https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/140128
Change 140128 merged by jenkins-bot: [PagePreparation] Templates excluded outside <translate> tags https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/140128
All patches mentioned in this report were merged or abandoned - is there more work left to do here (if yes: please reset the bug report status to NEW or ASSIGNED), or can you close this ticket as RESOLVED FIXED?
The patch only took care of the simplest case, where the template takes a full line.
So what are the other cases we want to handle? Please document them.
Doing that is part of the job, yes; I don't know if BPositive is still going to work on it. It was done in part at * https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_talk:Translate/Mass_migration_tools * https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_administration * https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:BPositive/Page_preparation
Nemo: I can find nothing on those pages which would list some concrete next steps on what kind of template uses should be supported. Until we have that info this bug is not actionable. Feel free to reopen once that info is provided.
