Description Julie 2014-07-03 21:41:10 UTC
The back button does not return to the previously viewed article, IF the article to be returned to has been viewed at least once in the past (at least I think that's what is causing the issue).

e.g. Several days ago I viewed article A. Many other articles have been viewed since then, and edits made. While viewing article, say, F, I decide to return to article A, so I search for it. From article A, I click on a link. I then press back, to return to the Article A I was just viewing. Instead, I am taken back to F.

Additionally, if both A and B were viewed in the past, and I'm on page F, and I load A, and click on a link to page G, and go back, which returns me to F, and then look at page B, I will be taken to page G - even though I went to page B from page F. Essentially it seems that the back button is not following the chronological viewing history?

Sorry if this is confusing. I've tested this several times now and it seems consistent.

This also happens when using file pages; often, when you press back, you don't end up where you expect.

I guess some forward navigation options don't push pages onto the stack correctly.

What's happening is we're not adding more than one history entry for a given page. The problem is, when you revisit a page it should move that history entry to the top of the history stack so back behaves as you'd expect. Pretty easy fix.
