Description sancelot 2014-07-09 07:49:18 UTC
I was looking for an extension and found what I was looking for:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_talk:FileIndexer

unfortunately for "safety" reasons this extension has been disabled, no more code available....

OKKK , I agree for safety reasons ....

BUT disabling it and not permitting people improving, or using it is a closed sight.

There is no added value thinking like that.

When you use a car, you know there are some safety rules to respect. up to you using the car, and respect the rules....

The code of that extension actually wasn't deleted, see [[mw:Special:PrefixIndex/Extension:FileIndexer/]]

I don't know the exact history, but I can't see any harm in mediawikiwiki admins such as myself releasing the code to interested parties if they make it clear they are going to repair the security issues before using the code.

Having said all that, this is more an issue for [[mw:Project:Support desk]], so I'm closing this bug.

Sorry, I meant [[mw:Project:Current issues]]

[Fixing bug summary because I don't see any deleted extension_S_ here]
